DO Sweat it - Why Sweat is Not the Enemy!

DO Sweat it - Why Sweat is Not the Enemy!

Sure, we would love to wave a magic wand, and to never sweat again, but there are clear benefits and advantages to sweating, especially during exercise!

Whilst it might be a bit of an inconvenience during your day to day life, when you’re down at the gym, sweating during exercise is essential, and let's take a look at all the reasons why!

Is Sweating Good for You?

We all know that sweat helps cool your body down, and we would surely overheat if we didn’t sweat, but sweat also helps naturally release some toxins, which is why you feel so much better after spending some time in a steam room or sauna! Whilst most detoxing happens through the liver and kidneys, your pores will step in to lend a hand through sweat. (ref)

Another advantage of sweating is heart health, and harking back to our old friend, the sauna, a study published in 2015, showed that those who sweat in a steam room more frequently were less likely to develop a heart condition. (ref)

Sweating can also aid in muscle recovery, as it boosts circulation and helps flush out any built up lactic acid, and sweat also contains a natural germ-killing protein called dermcidin which can protect against nasty diseases, such as MRSA! (ref)

Does sweat cleanse your body?

Okay I’m sorry…we’re going to get a lil bit sciency here.

The main benefit of sweating is to cool you down, especially during exercise, rather than to cleanse your body.

When your brain registers that you’re feeling a little bit too warm, a message is sent from the part of the brain that controls your body’s temperature to the pores around your body to release sweat.

When these glands release sweat, your body cools thanks to the sweat drying off your skin.

However, although sweat is primarily made up of water, ammonia, urea, salts and sugar, and although your kidneys and livers do most of the detoxing, sweat has been known to detox heavy metals, BPA and PCB chemicals, so it is well worth being a lil red tomato at the gym! (ref)

But I really don’t like sweating…

Regardless of the benefits of sweating, we still want to keep on top of any sweat patches and unwanted smells, so choosing the right natural deodorant will surely help that!

We searched high and low for natural alternatives to the chemicals used in antiperspirants, and found that our combination of Arrowroot Powder, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Candelilla Wax will not only stop you stinking, but will reduce the unwanted day to day moisture from under your arms.

You can take a look at all of our ingredients and their benefits here!

Whilst we don’t guarantee you’ll be dry all day, you will notice a reduction in your sweat, and if you don’t believe us, take it from Nicole, who recently left us a fantastic review -
